Well we must be looking like Israeli's who made Aliyah because the Israeli's talks to us in Hebrew and we are getting asked to help with directions . When the find out we are just visiting they genuinely are surprised. This happened with a young girl who just made Aliyah ( this is the term for the jewish person who immigrates to Israel and get citizenship) she asked for our help with directions ,we couldn't help her there but it did open up a wonderful discussion about Aliyah and I was able to share with her the info for an organization called 'Return ministries'. you can read more about that here: http://www.return.co.il/index.php Aliyah is a big deal here, a lot of people talk about it. they just brought back a tribe from India and Ethiopia, for a lot of Immigrants Israeli life is an improvement when they come from a third world. But they are seeing more and more come from the 3 big Jewish countries USA France and Canada which is significant for a lot of reasons I cant list here . Prophecy is one which is often talked about and we saw this in the museum in David's city.
Zachariah 2:4 goes on to say" , because there will be so many people and animals"
the passage goes on to say ''that many nations will joins themselves to Adonai" well I find that fascinating , and being here is totally reshaping how I think of the past and the future.
we spent all of tuesday at two museums , one in the old city this is the tower of David's museum and the other was Israel museum.
on the way to the old city we took a different route and I happened to come across the most marvelous antique and art shop. we met the owner Yidida and we 'almost' bought a 200 year old Torah scroll written on deer skin.
The tower of David is in the old city and we spent a fair amount of time there. While we were there the Muslim call to prayer was ringing in our ears as we scanned the panoramic view. Like so many have done before us, we learnt quite a bit of the history of the city there, you can as well from this link:
http://www.towerofdavid.org.il/English/General/Tower_of_David-Museum_of_the_History_of_JerusalemI experienced some difficulty with my trick ankle here and when we left the citadel I was very worried that I couldn't even walk to the bus stop. Right then a van/cab stopped and the man driving said to me 'Smile God is Good' and I said 'all the time ' and he said 'all the time' and I said God is Good'
I love these moments when I know that my every step is cared for by my Good heavenly Father. Because brother Adam picked us up, my ankle could recover , we made a friend (another Israeli divine appointment) and will see him again on Sunday at King of Kings.
When we arrived at 2:30 the Israel museum was not open yet , but that was again was perfect timeing now we can eat in their fabulous restaurant. I cant believe we sat there for two hours ( my ankle got a good rest) just so we could digest it all . yummy.
This museum holds the dead sea scrolls and is housed in this building we are standing in front of. you can read more on how important these scrolls are here:http://www.deadseascrolls.org.il/
we also got to see the replica of Jerusalem past , in the time of Christ.
This visual really is helpful for me to understand better the gospels and acts of the apostles in the scriptures and just makes me marvel at all the efforts of mankind then and now.
you really need a couple of days at this museum. I was so bless to see some of my favorite artist on display in the modern art exhibit. I had tried to see the 100 masters at the Winnipeg Art Gallery before I left Canada and I was so sad I missed it , but here God blessed me with all my favorites.
We just got back from the 'Holy Convocations for all nations' and I can say that the future is on the minds of many there . 180 nations participate and tonight the focus was on the Jaffa gate nations . These are all the nations that radiate out from the Jaffa gate of this city. you can read more about this here: http://www.jhopfan.org/all-nations-convocation-jerusalem/
we got to hear a lot of talk from people who see the future of Jerusalem through the lens of scripture and prophecy and are amazing watchmen on the wall. I will end this blog with a picture of an American Jewish man playing 'Amazing Grace ' with two shofars. truly it was amazing I wish you could have heard it.
until next time
